My name is Candice Tackett I have been doing Crossfit since 2009 and been a certified Level 1 coach since 2010. I also developed a Crossfit Kids program in Huntington, WV. Since starting Crossfit I have completed many things I never thought I would even attempt before 2009 such as 5K, 10K, half marathons, trail runs, Crossfit competitions etc. Living healthy and active is very important to me and my family. Showing our son good habits at a young age is top priority for us. I am certified in Crossfit Kids, Mobility & Recovery, Olympic Lifting.
My name is Andrew Ware.
Favorite thing to coach/teach, Olympic lifts. Favorite work out Fran or DT. Least favorite work out, Eva or 17.1.
What is crossfit to me?
The most challenging, humbling, and at the same time most fun I’ve had working out.
Coach Mike :
Hey there, I’m Mike. I’m a retired US Army Ranger who has quite a bit of love for the fitness field. I’ve been coaching part time at CFSS for some time, but I was a member since the facility opened. I’ve been in multiple competitions, and in the past, have climbed mountains, ran the World’s Toughest Mudder, and done quite a bit to push myself physically. I love helping others with their technique. I love the sense of community in Crossfit. The best part of coaching is the expression on someone’s face when they hit a PR or movement they never imagined they would be able to do.
Coach Ryan :
My name is Ryan Scott, I had been a member of CFSS for close to 2 years before becoming a trainer. I have about 10 years experience in the fitness field before this. I’ve been part of numerous competitions and have worked closely with Josh and Andrew since becoming a member. There is an art to coaching and making sure we are all getting what we need. The thing I’m most excited for is learning the programming on a different level and being able to provide the most knowledge I can, and be able to help each one of you personally as well as helping our gym grow continuously.
Coach Jocelyn :
Hi guys, I’m Jocelyn. I’m a firefighter/paramedic that was born and raised in a small town in Texas. From an early age, my life revolved around sports and physical activity. Softball, gymnastics, dance, basketball, volleyball, skateboarding, you name it. My true love was softball and I played year-round from the ages of 8 – 16. I moved to the central Kentucky region in 2014 and began lifting weights and using hypertrophy/bodybuilding style workouts. I developed a love for pushing my limits and becoming stronger. I joined CFSS in January 2018, and immediately fell in love. I’m thrilled to be part of a community devoted to health and wellness.
Coach Allison :
Hi there, I’m Allison, the CFSS yoga instructor. I started practicing yoga about a year after having my second child in 2013. At that point in time, I had lost touch with activities that I had previously enjoyed which supported my physical and mental well-being, like tumbling and rock climbing. Life can make these things seem hard to keep up with(I was juggling graduate school, babies, marriage, a career, etc). I stumbled across a 30 day online yoga challenge a friend was hosting, signed up, and learned a lot about the underpinnings of the practice, and myself! From there, I continued to seek resources and local connections to further my practice, and eventually became a certified Registered Yoga Teacher(RYT) in 2017. We have yoga every Sunday evening at CFSS, and it’s open to absolutely anyone. You don’t have to be able to do a back bend or the splits to come join us.
